I began fusing glass in my clay kilns in 1998 after working as a potter for over 20 years. It was challenging and fun to switch media and the first glass was slumped on clay molds that I carved and built. I used window glass as a beginner and now use Bullseye Glass that is handmade in Portland, Ore. The colors available are brilliant and seductive. In the fuse firing, compatible glasses are heated and fused together on a leveled kiln shelf to 1450 F. The piece is then shaped by heating to a lesser temperature, just enough to bend in the desired shape. My home is in beautiful Chimayo where my husband and I built our adobe house and studio.
